Core registration of monuments

The monuments registration contains all national monuments and municipal monuments in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Heritage Ordinance (2015) protects the cultural-historical values within the municipality of Amsterdam. The Heritage Ordinance regulates, among other things, the designation of objects as municipal monuments. The Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands designates objects as national monuments on behalf of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science. The Unesco world heritage area in the city center is part of this core registration.
