This aggregated data set represents a combined view of the exposure and probability of tree falls on the rail infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia compared to tree falls. This product of the storm-throw hazard is the result of the research project “Sensitivity analysis of vegetation along the federal transport routes with regard to storm-throw hazards and embankment fires” of the German Center for Rail Transport Research at the Federal Railway Authority as part of the work of the BMDV expert network in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation (bmdv-Expertennetzwerk.de). The factual information and hazard classes are provided exclusively for the area of rail infrastructure. Sections are shown, each 500 m long. For each section of the route, the average of the risk estimates (see storm impact probability) for the falling of trees with exposure classes 3 and 4 (see storm impact exposure), as well as the number of trees within the section with exposure classes 3 and 4, were determined. The data set is represented in the form of a matrix consisting of the two attributes MaxEnt MW of a section and number of trees per section.
