lineage Contour contours were generated using Global Mapper software from the original data grid at 1 meter resolution. The Interpolate to fill small gaps in data and appended unit lable options have been deselected. The cursor has been placed all the way to the left (less simplification) to obtain the minimum simplification of the contour lines. Following the generation of the isobaths, the datasets were edited to eliminate vectors with no morphological significance, such as for example the "edge effect" or the effect due to bad alignment of the sweeps on the flat bottom, or other elements not indicative of a real morphology. To overcome the problem of multiple selection, after selecting the set of contours with the cursor, the shift was used to de-select the contours not to be deleted.
