Recording of the seal population in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea 2007. The seal population in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea is determined annually. For this purpose, counting flights are carried out in the summer months (May - September). During these months the seals give birth, raise their young and change their hair. The counts take place at low water. At this time the seals are resting on the dry berths. The counts are coordinated trilaterally via the 'Seal Management Plan'.
