Acidification sensitive, very vulnerable areas (WAV) (Environmental Ordinance 2016)

This file contains highly sensitive areas for acidification (based on WAV) as determined in the Environmental Ordinance Province of Groningen 2016. We have included rules for this in this Environmental Ordinance. Fertilization and acidification have a negative impact on the recovery and development of natural values. When designing new nature reserves, we reduce these problems with measures such as optimization of water management and removal of the fertilized top soil layer. The Ammonia and Livestock Farming Act (WAV) protects very vulnerable areas of our nature network against ammonia emissions from livestock farms. Based on this Act, we have designated the highly vulnerable areas sensitive to ammonia in the Environmental Ordinance.
