Floor area per ha - Flanders - situation 2016

This map indicator gives an estimate of the floor area (in m²) of the buildings per hectare. The building height is taken into account and it is assumed that there is one floor per 3m building height. The 3D GRB model of available Large Scale Reference File (GRB) with height data is used as base data (version 2.0, creation 1.10.2015) for calculating the floor area of ​​the buildings in Flanders. The building layer is intersected with the hectare grid. For each 100x100m zone, the total floor area is calculated by taking into account the number of floors per building. It is assumed that there is one storey per 3m building height. This indicator is only drawn up for the situation in 2016 due to the lack of the necessary data sources (on building height) for the other years (2013, 2019).
