DTM - Quantification of water energy

RASTER type data (ESRI GRID format), made up of square cells with sides of 10m. SPI is the acronym for Strem Power Index. The physical meaning of this index translates into the Quantification of the Energy exerted by a water flow in its Hortonian-type surface outflow, when it crosses the section represented by the cell under examination. The formula supplies the energy which depends directly both on the quantity of fluid crossing a section (Flow Accumulation) and on its speed which in turn is a function of the inclination of the slope (Slope). The unit of measure is meters.

lineage	This is a complex figure, calculated using the ArcGIS 9.0 Map Calculator. The formula used for the Stream Power Index is: SPI = As*Tan b; where As is the contributing area or the Flow Accumulation (here the appropriately converted FlowAcc_Dinf has been used), while b is the inclination of the slope.
