Map layers of legally protected biotopes according to §30 BNatSchG / §42 LNatSchG NRW: Points

Important note: The data set is updated daily under OpenData NRW! The map layer §42 biotopes can be selected in the Web Map Service Landscape Information Collection (WMS LINFOS) and shows the spatial location of the legally protected biotopes in North Rhine-Westphalia according to § 42 of the NRW State Nature Conservation Act. Protected biotopes are endangered habitats that are subject to general legal protection (§ 30 BNatSchG or § 42 LNatSchG NRW). All measures or actions that lead to the destruction or significant or lasting impairment of the biotope are prohibited. The protection applies by law, i. H. without the need for a protected area designation or a mapping of the biotopes. The mapping of the biotopes by the LANUV and the information given to the landowners by the Lower Landscape Authority have a purely declaratory character. The following biotopes are under legal protection in NRW: 1. Natural or near-natural undeveloped areas of flowing and standing inland waters including their banks and the associated natural or near-natural vegetation along the banks and their natural or near-natural silted-up areas, oxbow lakes and regularly flooded areas, 2. Moors, swamps, Reed beds, wet meadows rich in sedges and rushes, headwaters, inland salt marshes, 3. Open inland dunes, natural rock formations, open natural heaps of blocks, rubble and rubble, clay and loess walls, dwarf shrub, broom and juniper heaths, mat grass lawns, species-rich poor meadows and pastures , dry grassland, natural heavy metal grassland, forests and bushes in dry, warm locations, 4. broken, swampy and alluvial forests, ravine, boulder heaps and scree forests. The legally protected biotopes are recorded in NRW as part of biotope mapping and documented in a state-wide database. The data is available to third parties via the specialist information system “Legally protected biotopes in NRW” on the LANUV website.
