Beekdal (Cultural History Compass and OGV, 2010) (history)

Surface elements of the cultural-historical main structure for the province of Drenthe concerning selected stream valleys. The stream valleys as shown on the CHS must often be seen in combination with the esdorpen. Directly along the stream lay the hay meadows and slightly higher the grasslands, important for keeping cattle. A number of stream valleys are sharply delineated with wooded banks, with wooded banks within halfway up the stream valley and ditches across the stream.
