Cycle routes Wuppertal

The data set includes (as of 12/2020) 11 locally signposted municipal cycle paths in the city of Wuppertal as well as associated sections of cycle paths outside of the Wuppertal city area. In addition, it contains the excerpt of the routes from the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) cycling network that are relevant for Wuppertal. The municipal cycle paths also include the Nordbahntrasse, the Sambatrasse and the Schwarzbachtrasse, three cycle paths laid out on former railway lines with a high leisure and adventure value. In addition, the data set also includes those sections of supra-regional tourist cycle routes that run through Wuppertal. All cycle routes are represented geometrically by the central axes of the associated streets and paths, which have been digitized on the basis of the digital base map DGK or, from 2016, the official base map ABK. Every cycle route, including the excerpt from the NRW cycle traffic network, is shown as a coherent polyline in terms of data structure. The data set was first completed in January 2011 and has since been updated promptly whenever there are changes to the cycle routes. The ESRI Shapefiles, KML and GeoJSON files provided as open data under the CC BY 4.0 license are updated weekly in an automated process.
