The road network affected by the earthquake is particularly extensive and damaged in a significant and widespread manner. To ensure greater effectiveness in the restoration of the road network, in agreement with the Civil Protection Department, the Implementing Body decided to proceed both with the reconnaissance and identification of the interventions and with the development of a "Program for the restoration of roads affected by the earthquake" , according to a succession of incremental operational excerpts. In defining the extension of the sections, reference was obviously made to the value of the road network in terms of mobility. Following the definitive approval of the first and second section of the program (March 20 and April 19, 2017), the Implementing Body was able to start the planning of the interventions following the order of priority established in agreement with the local authorities. The first calls for tenders for the works were published in May 2017. All the tenders for the assignment of the restoration will be awarded with an accelerated procedure, always guaranteeing transparency, free access and competition. In agreement with the Administrations and managing bodies, the interventions to be carried out have been aggregated into projects to give greater efficiency to the supply chain processes in carrying out the works. The aggregation followed two general criteria:1) by type of intervention, in relation to the specific skills and professionalism necessary for the planning and construction (defense works on slopes, structures, road body, etc.);2) by road itinerary, in relation the need to closely coordinate the works on a single road, also for construction site and operation.
