Soil overview map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1:200,000

The soil overview map 1:200,000 (BÜK200) is created and published by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in cooperation with the State Geological Services (SGD) of the federal states according to uniform standards, norms and nomenclature. It appears in the section of the official topographic overview map 1:200,000 (TÜK200) and comprises 55 individual map sheets. Although the BÜK200 is published in individual printed map sheets, it is basically a map series with no page cuts, which provides a detailed, nationwide uniform and comprehensive information basis for cross-state statements on soil use and soil protection. It shows the distribution and socialization of the soils and their properties in Germany. From the base area data of the BÜK200 (leading and accompanying soils with information on soil type, soil type, soil parent rock, humus and carbonate content, layer and horizon depth, groundwater level, etc.), stored in a relational database developed jointly by BGR and SGD, functions, potential and threats to soil can be determined and presented. The BÜK200 data series includes all map sheets with their digital map images and geometries as well as the provisional BÜK200 area database.
