Traffic situation in Hamburg

The data set contains the traffic situation in real time (updated every 5 minutes) on the Hamburg road network and on larger roads in the immediate vicinity of Hamburg as well as on the motorways running through Hamburg south to Lüneburg, Hanover and Bremen and north to Itzehoe, Flensburg and Lübeck. The traffic situation is divided into 4 condition classes, from condition class 1, flowing traffic (green) to condition class 2, heavy traffic (orange) and condition class 3, heavy traffic (red) to condition class 4, congested traffic (dark red). If there is no data for individual segments, either permanently or temporarily, no traffic situation is displayed. The traffic situation is determined using a speed index (GI). This is calculated from the current speed divided by the free-flow speed. The classification into the condition classes is based on the following specifications: Condition class 1: GI > 0.7, condition class 2: GI >= 0.4, condition class 3: GI >= 0.2, condition class 4: GI < 0.2 Basis of Traffic situation display is floating car data from the company INRIX, which is provided by TraffGo Road GmbH.
