The data set "NO2 annual mean values ​​Wuppertal (passive collectors) from 2008" includes the annual mean values ​​of the nitrogen dioxide concentration at 42 municipal measuring stations in the Wuppertal urban area determined since 2008 through the evaluation of passive collectors (as of 05/2021). As of 05/2021 contains The data set contains 322 measured values ​​from 30 stations currently in operation and 12 stations whose operation has since been discontinued. The passive samplers are tubes filled with adsorbent material ("sampling tubes") suspended in protective housings, in which the nitrogen dioxide is stored over an exposure period of approximately one month enriched by natural diffusion. Each line of the data set contains an annual mean value of the nitrogen dioxide concentration in the unit µg/m³ (attribute AVERAGE), which is determined as the weighted average of all monthly mean values ​​of a measuring station in a calendar year. The weighting is based on the actual exposure periods of the sampling tubes, which may vary slightly from month to month. Using the station number in the MESSPUNKT attribute, the annual average values ​​can be linked to the location data in the “Air measurement stations Wuppertal (passive collector)” data set, which is published separately as open data. In addition, each data line contains information about the reference year (YEAR attribute) and the daily exposure period (TIME_FROM and TIME_TO attributes). The data set is updated annually. The calculated annual average values ​​are provided to the city of Wuppertal by the company commissioned with the laboratory examination of the sampling tubes together with the monthly average values ​​for December in January of the following year and published there.
