A biotope in the sense of this biotope mapping is an area that can be clearly defined in the terrain with a relatively uniform vegetation and/or use structure. An area or a part of the landscape can be assessed in terms of its importance for the ecosystem by means of biotope mapping. If a complete selected area is recorded, it is a comprehensive biotope mapping (FFH areas, large protected areas). With selective biotope mapping, only certain landscape components that are particularly relevant to nature conservation are recorded (protected biotopes and FFH habitat types according to § 30 BNatSchG and § 18 BbgNatSchAG). A defined biotope type catalog is the basis for assigning the individual biotope types. Furthermore, mapping instructions and descriptions of biotope types support the mapping (see State Environment Agency Brandenburg 2004 and 2007: biotope mapping Brandenburg - Volume 1 and Volume 2). The present database is made up as follows: - Biotope and FFH-LRT mapping in FFH areas (2001-2011); possibly updates as part of the FFH management planning (2001-2020) - second round of selective biotope mapping outside of large conservation areas and FFH areas (protected biotopes and FFH habitat types according to § 30 BNatSchG and § 18 BbgNatSchAG) - not yet available for all districts (from 2007, expected to be completed in 2016) - Biotope mapping in large protected areas as part of maintenance and development planning (1993-ongoing) Attention! This database contains geodata (shape files) with selected factual data from biotope and FFH-LRT mapping. In the case of older data that was recorded using a different method, individual entries may deviate from the current reference lists. Data from the biotope and FFH habitat type mapping are usually recorded according to the Brandenburg biotope mapping method in the BBK database (Access application), which contains significantly more detailed information, especially when using the highest mapping intensity C.
