Watersheds (Special Water Secretariat)

Contains the 45 River Basins of the country, as determined and reflected by the Decision of the National Water Commission of July 16, 2010 (Government Gazette 1383/8/2-9-10 and Gazette 1572/B/28-9-10 which corrects the Annex II of the previous gazette). The data comes from the thematic level of the hydrological basins of the Hydroscope database (http://www.hydroscope.gr/). Polygons outside of Greece were removed from them. Subsequently, a generalization of joining the polygons of the hydrological basins was carried out. Then the field 'namenl' was added which contains the Greek names that are compatible with the Official Gazette 1572/Β'/28.09.2010. The initial data was created during the 2nd phase of the ETYM project (1997-2005) through the digitization of GIS maps at a scale of 1:50,000. These data were adjusted to the borders derived from digitization of G.Y.S. slides. scale 1:50,000, which was carried out in 1998 and the coastline of the Navy Hydrographic Service, which was transformed from ED50 to EGSA 87.
