Forest categories - 1998

The forests, which cover the regional territory for over 255 thousand hectares (over a third of the total) are made up of various types of wood. The database of Forest Categories (which originates from that of the Forest Types of Friuli Venezia Giulia of which it a higher level aggregation) was created by the forestry technicians dott.for. Giuseppe Vanone (mountain area) and dott.for. Gianfranco Dreossi (hilly, sub-mountain and Karst belt) between 1997 and 1999 as part of the regional project financed by the European Union for the creation of a regional Observatory and Wood Exchange.
