Direct protection woods

The map service allows the visualization of direct protection woods, i.e. woods which, due to their special location, protect people, goods and infrastructures from natural hazards such as avalanches, falling rocks, surface slips, torrential lavas and more, preventing the event or mitigating its effect. For these woods, there is a ban on changing the intended use from wood to another land use, bones of "forest transformation" (art. 43 regional law 31/2008, art. 8 c. 7 of legislative decree 34/ 2018, art. 17 of Royal Decree 3267/1923).

lineage	This dataset was created by ERSAF, on behalf of the Forestry Office of the Lombardy Region, by mosaicing the restriction provisions, originally delimited on cadastral maps and regional technical paper. These are measures issued in different periods of the 20th century. The collection published here is certainly partial, but it is made up of all the provisions known to the Forestry Office of the Lombardy Region. Anyone who is aware of other measures is therefore invited to communicate it to foresta@regione.lombardia.it
