100-year protection zones for sources of drinking water

The protection zone around drinking water extraction from groundwater, within which the groundwater has been on its way to extraction for 100 years or less. This zone can be determined by the province for very vulnerable groundwater abstractions. How this is handled differs per province. Depending on the province, rules may apply based on the Provincial Environmental Ordinance (Environmental Management Act) or spatial ordinances (Spatial Planning Act). Spatial stimulation policy almost always applies in order to take drinking water interests into account.

lineage	De data van deze kaart is afkomstig van de provincies. De provincies, in samenwerking met de waterbedrijven, bepalen de 100-jaarszones aan de hand van modellen die de reistijd tot de drinkwaterwinning berekenen. Eventuele aanpassingen aan de 100 jaarszones kunnen eens in de 4 jaar worden doorgevoerd als de PMV wordt herzien. Het tijdstip waarop dit gebeurd kan per provincie verschillen.
