The boundaries of the water maintenance associations of the state of Brandenburg are derived from the data set ezg25 (overground catchment areas of the state of Brandenburg). The derivation is carried out according to the catchment areas specified in the association's statutes. A parcel that lies in several catchment areas that are assigned to different association areas is to be assigned to the association area in which the larger sub-area is located. If the sub-areas are distributed identically, the position of the metrological focal point of the parcel is decisive for the assignment. The catchment areas that have been designated and made publicly accessible by the Water Management Office for the following year as of June 1 of the previous year are decisive for the association boundaries of the water maintenance associations (GUV).
