Statistical sectors of Belgium, most recent

The concept of 'statistical sector' was introduced in 1970 by the National Institute for Statistics (NIS). Previously, the municipality was the smallest administrative entity for which socio-economic data were available. The statistical sectors divide the territory of Belgium on the basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The boundaries of statistical sectors usually coincide with elements or administrative/managerial divisions that are recognizable in the field. Many detailed inventories are generalized into information at the level of the statistical sector. This data product contains the vectorial data of the most recent version of the Statistical sectors, generalized version, of the General Directorate of Statistics - Statistiscs Belgium.
