Soil hazard - potential compaction sensitivity under arable farming (May - September)

The series of maps shows the compaction sensitivity of the subsoil under typical summer arable farming conditions, i.e. the long-term average (1975-2005) for the period from May to September. The classification ranges from very low to very high compaction sensitivity. Soil compaction has been a problem of soil protection for a long time, which is exacerbated by the use of ever heavier machines, especially in agriculture and in the construction industry. These maps can be used as an instrument of preventive soil protection, e.g. B. answer the question of whether a harvest transport, which was relatively risk-free in July/August, already entails a high risk of soil compaction in October. In order to serve as many questions as possible with different spatial references, maps are available in six different scale levels: 1 : 2,000 for specific land management or construction work on site or for high-resolution planning 1 : 10,000 for plot-specific planning 1 : 25,000 for planning at community level 1 : 100,000 for planning in larger regions 1 : 250,000 for state-wide differentiated planning 1 : 1000,000 for state-wide to nationwide planning Further map series on potential compaction sensitivity exist for the period October-April and for grassland use.
