Soil assessment - natural productivity (BGZ), assessed nationwide

The natural productivity is a parameter for evaluating the soil as a location for agricultural use and is evaluated using the soil and grassland number. Soil and grassland base figures are estimated depending on the soil type, status, origin and climate. The type of soil in particular influences many yield-forming processes. For example, soils made of sand can provide little water with the nutrients dissolved in it when it is dry, soils made of clay more. Soils made of clay can store exchangeable nutrients better than soils made of sand. Soils of the same soil type have different levels of condition (stages of development/ageing) and the ability to store water and nutrients and make them available to crops. These and other differences in the site conditions that are important for productivity are reflected in the soil and grassland basic figures. With soil and grassland basic figures, a use function of the soil is evaluated according to § 2 Para. 2 BBodSchG, namely according to point 3.c) the use functions as a location for agricultural and forestry use. The criterion chosen for this is the natural productivity with the characteristic value soil and grassland base number. The maps are available for the following scale levels: - 1 : 1,000 - 10,000 for high-resolution or plot-specific planning, - 1 : 10,001 - 35,000 for planning at community level, - 1 : 35,001 - 100,000 for planning in larger regions, - 1 : 100,001 - 350,000 for statewide differentiated planning, - 1 : 350,001 - 1000,000 for statewide to nationwide planning. In this representation, the natural productivity is classified nationwide. Under the title "Soil assessment - natural productivity (BGZ), regionally specific assessed" there is another classification of the soil water exchange related to the natural environment, which presents the soil water exchange in a regionally differentiated way.
