Following the entry into force of the Provincial Urban Plan (P.U.P.), approved with the L.P. 27 May 2008, no. 5 and the application of article 21 of its implementation rules, in relation to the protection of water resources intended for human consumption, the Charter of Water Resources was prepared. By resolution of G.P. n° 2248 of 5 September 2008 the Charter of Water Resources was therefore approved which identifies the springs, wells and surface water used for drinking purposes with any flow rate including the mineral water springs currently under concession as well as the springs considered strategic for the peculiar characteristics of quality, quantity and vulnerability, even if not exploited for human use, which could constitute future reserves. The Charter of Water Resources covers the whole of Trentino on a scale of 1:10,000 and identifies the following safeguarded areas: a) zones of absolute protection; b) hydrogeological buffer zones; c) protection zones.
