lineage The landscape theme has been divided into two main graphic representations: Landscape and Ecological Network. The analysis of the landscape was articulated in successive phases. In the first phase, a reconnaissance analysis of the landscape components was carried out, dividing them into three main structures: the structure of the natural environment, the structure of the anthropic environment and the regulatory structure, which brings together the various aspects of landscape subjected to different forms of protection. The second phase belongs to the interpretative synthesis, to the search for the existing relationships between the selected components and to an initial evaluation dedicated to the identification of the resources and problems of the territory, of the identity and vocation of the places, in order to clarify the objectives of protection of the Plan, specified in the third phase through the possible safeguarding and valorisation actions. The main and secondary core areas represent, within the ecological network, supra-municipal areas of specific attention due to the characteristics of high naturalness and biodiversity, being the central portion of large patches of natural vegetation and characteristic species that offer an optimal ecological space in quantity and quality, of sufficient size to support a self-reproducing animal community. The ecological corridors have the function of reducing the effects of fragmentation and therefore increasing the degree of connectivity between the patches. Further elements of the landscape are the buffer strips, ecotonal or transition areas, to protect the core-areas and corridors from external influences and are useful for increasing load-bearing capacity, resistance and resilience, and the stepping stones.
