Protective effect of the top layers on the surface

The card contains an evaluation of the protective effect of the top layers, divided into the three categories "unfavourable", "medium" and "favourable". The decisive criterion for the allocation and spatial delimitation of individual area units was the petrographic condition (cohesive/non-cohesive) and thickness (gradations: 10m) proven by drilling. In the marshes and lowlands of the west coast, specific sediment properties favor the retention of pollutants. This was also taken into account when evaluating the protective effect.
