lineage | The methodology for the creation of the database involved two work phases, one of automatic processing of the input data in the ArcGis environment and one of manual selection. Automatic elaboration: made it possible to identify the points candidates to become peaks and to associate them with a toponym. For the creation of the shp-file containing the candidate peak points, the following processes were carried out: production of a polygonal layer containing the contour lines with a 10 m step; selection of curves with a length of less than 1500 m; selection among the listed points present in the GeoDB of the points contained in the polygons of the contour lines; selection of toponyms referring to mountain reliefs; association of the toponym with the candidate summit points. Manual selection: examination on a CTR basis of each single point identified through an automatic procedure, insertion of points excluded during the pre-processing of input data, point deletions with incorrect toponym association |
