Overview map of the organic carbon stocks in the soils of Schleswig-Holstein - Map 1: Corg stocks up to 30 cm below the ground surface in t/ha

Carbon is stored in the organic matter (humus) of soil. This map is used to show the amounts of humus or stocks in the soil. The unit is tons per hectare (t/ha). The organic carbon stocks (Corg stocks) result from the product of humus content in mass % - soil, the dry bulk density of the soil and the depth in cm (here 30cm). In the case of mineral soils under forest, the presentation includes the humus layer. The basis are the geometries and ideal profiles (leading and accompanying soils) of the 1:250,000 soil overview map of Schleswig-Holstein. The usage information comes from the Corine-Landcover dataset (CLC 5 2018 of the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG)) and was aggregated into 5 classes for this map. The map's attribute table also contains information about the absolute organic carbon stocks of the individual areas. Areas up to a minimum size of 1 ha are shown. The data show higher uncertainties in settlement areas and areas heavily influenced by human activity, which is why the map display was grayed out in these areas. The corresponding information is contained in the attribute table of the surface data.
