Old judicial archives

The so-called “old law” consists of archives of West Frisian courts from before 1811. These dealt with civil and criminal cases, from the smallest offenses to the most serious crimes. They also recorded the transfer of real estate and the taking out of mortgage loans. Furthermore, one could go there for the same kind of deeds as at the notary. Finally, supervision of the management of orphaned property by guardians was also a task of the courts.
