On the basis of the biotope and usage type mapping based on aerial photos, the legally protected biotopes of the open country and the populated areas were selectively recorded terrestrially in the period 1996-2013. The aim was to survey all legally protected biotopes. Production process: delimitation of the biotopes through aerial photo interpretation, terrain survey, digitization; Positional accuracy: approx. 10 m; Accuracy: accurate to biotope and usage types; The mapping is complete. Regional updates have been running for several years, some according to different mapping keys (individual districts, "Green Belt", FFH areas), but these are not yet part of this data set. Note: According to Section 5 of the Thuringian Forest Act, the State Forest Agency (ThüringenForst AöR) is responsible for mapping forest biotopes in Thuringia.
