Arpae, in agreement with the health service of the Emilia-Romagna Region, has been carrying out, since 2019, monitoring for the scientific study of the risks associated with the possible presence and flowering of cyanobacteria in regional coastal waters suitable for bathing as a result of their growing diffusion mainly due to eutrophication and climate change, and to collect information on the presence or absence of the potentially toxic Ostreopsis ovata algae in the waters of the Emilia-Romagna coast. The monitoring network provides for control of stretches of coast with certain geomorphological characteristics, such as presence of groynes and artificial barriers, in any case with low water exchange, located in the provinces of Ferrara (Porto Garibaldi), Ravenna (Lido di Savio), Forlì-Cesena (Cesenatico), Rimini (Misano Brasile) see map. sampling and analysis is the same as that of bathing water control, between May and September of each year.
