The database returns the presence events of the Marsican brown bear in the regional territory in the form of a 2km x 2km grid. The presence events are defined starting from the signs of presence detected and then validated by the representatives of the Regional Monitoring Network of the Marsican brown bear according to the standards reported in the technical document "Criteria for planning the monitoring of the presence of the Marsican brown bear in peripheral areas of the distribution area in the Lazio Region”. The presence events cover a period of time ranging from the 1990s to 2021. The grid does not represent the distribution of the population on the regional territory but the presence events documented and validated to date. The presence events integrated with the cartography relating to the distribution and environmental suitability models for the species (downloadable from the website of the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea at the address http://www.minambiente.it/ page/plan-dation-la-tutela-dellorso-marsicano-patom) represent an indispensable layer of information for territorial management aimed at conserving the population of the Marsican brown bear. Since 2015, the Salviamo l'Orso Association has been collaborating in the activities of the Regional Monitoring Network of the Marsican brown bear through a joint monitoring program in the Ernici Mountains area.
