Map layer nature reserves NRW

The map layer nature reserves can be selected in the web map service landscape information collection (WMS LINFOS) and shows the spatial location of the nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to § 23 Para. 1 BNatSchG, nature protection areas (NSG) are "legally defined areas in which a special protection of nature and landscape in their entirety or in individual parts 1. for the preservation, development or restoration of biotopes or communities of certain wild animal and plant species, 2. for scientific, natural history or regional reasons or 3. because of their rarity, special uniqueness or outstanding beauty." They are usually expelled by the higher nature conservation authorities at the regional councils, occasionally also by the highest and lower nature conservation authorities of the federal states by decree or statutory ordinance. From a spatial planning point of view, nature conservation has a priority function in these areas. In addition to the national parks, they form important areas for the conservation of biodiversity in Germany.
