LGN2021 is a raster file that shows Dutch land use in 2021 with a spatial resolution of 5m. The database has 51 land use classes, in which the most important agricultural crops, forest, water, nature and urban classes are distinguished. The following files were used to create LGN2021: Top10NL (version November 2021), Basis Registration Parcels 2021 (BRP2021), File Soil Use 2015 (BBG2015), Information Model Nature 2021 (IMNa2021), General Height file Netherlands (AHN3 /4). In addition, satellite images (particularly Sentinel-2) and aerial photos from 2021 were used in the classification of nature. The LGN2021 file was delivered on July 15, 2022. New LGN classes compared to previous versions are solar parks and a subdivision of the old LGN class 25 'Roads and railways' into three subclasses. The definitions of some other classes have been slightly modified. All LGN classes are unambiguously defined based on unique combinations of classes from 12 different files or masks. Every year around July 1, an LGN update is delivered that reflects the land use of the previous reference year. For example, the land use file (LGN2022) for the reference year 2022 will be delivered on 1 July 2023.
