Harp Piedmont - Topographical - 1:250.000 Sfumo

Topographic base for the representation of geo-environmental issues in raster format at a scale of 1:250,000. The cartography was produced by Arpa Piemonte (Geographical Information System) in the period 2009-2010, with the aim of creating a topographical base on a regional scale useful for the representation and production of the Agency's geothematic cartography. it is made up of several information levels (hydrography, roads, buildings, altimetry, toponymy) with a background of the 'blurred' altimetric relief produced by virtual shading of the digital model of the terrain.

lineage	The production of the dataset involved several phases: collection, organization and structuring of vector data, thinning and generalization to the reference scale, preparation and cartographic dressing, processing and export in raster format. The main data used for processing the topographic base are briefly described below. Altimetry: contour lines and survey model from the Arpa Piemonte Digital Terrain Model with a pitch of 10 m. As regards the background of the images, the 'sfumo' of the Piedmont Region deriving from the DTM with a 10m mesh was used; the territory is represented by the effect of shading ('hillshade' function present in the Spatial Analyst extension of the Esri ArcGis software). Hydrography: IGMI hydrography 1:100.000 , CTRN hydrography 1:50.000 Piedmont RegionBuildings: urban footprint derived from satellite images (source: Piedmont Region) production areas and historical centers from mosaicing of the PRG (Piedmont Region)Road and railway viability: Typographic base 1:50,000 (source Arpa Piedmont), TeleAtlas road graph.Toponymy: reworking and integration of toponymy levels from CTR Piemonte 1:10.000, IGMI Sheets- Serie100, IGMI trigonometric vertices and additions from Arpa Piemonte's toponym database.
