The map series of the Geological Overview Map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1:200,000 (GÜK200) is the product of a joint effort between the State Geological Services (SGD), the Geological Services of the neighboring countries and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). The GÜK200 depicts the surface geology of Germany and the adjacent areas of neighboring countries on 55 map sheets. The regional distribution of more than 3800 geological units is shown on the map sheets. The geological units contain information on the stratigraphy (age), genesis (formation) and petrography (composition) of the rocks.
