The database of the Geological Map of Italy on a scale of 1:1,000,000 is called GEO1MDB and is made up of 4 geometric layers and 3 descriptive tables. The layers are: Geological units (polygons), Tectonic units (polygons), Structural elements ( lines) and Elements of regional tectonics (lines). The descriptive table of the Geological units layer contains the following information: Lithological description of the unit, lower and upper geological age of the unit, Depositional environment, Orogenic cycle, Type of units, Initials, Color code. For the OneGeology-Europe project, 5 representative lithological classes of the unit have been added to these attributes. In the table associated with the tectonic units, there are: Orogenetic cycle, Orogenetic vergence, Description of the unit, Structural domain, Initials and Color code. Finally, in the table associated with the structural elements (linear type) there are the following attributes: Structural element type, vergence, observation method, Orientation of the line, Initials and Color code. Some geomorphological elements also belong to this table and for the 1GE project a column has been added relating to the nomeclature of the linear elements (contacts and faults) defined by the WP3 of the project.
