Geodetic Networks

The regional geodetic network created in 2006 is made up of: - the refinement network of the IGM95 network. Composed of 365 newly established top management, materialized in accordance with the Technical Specifications "Refinement of the IGM95 IntesaGIS Fundamental Network. - support network which is made up of 2641 photographic vertices for the most part coinciding with the fiducial points of the cadastre. For the creation of the regional geodetic network, the Military Geographical Institute (IGM) was involved, with which the Puglia Region has entered into a special agreement. The regional Geodetic Network together with the network of permanent GNSS-Puglia stations are the basis of the regional positioning service which allow the creation of cartographic products (Technical-Thematic Cartographies, Orthophotos, etc.) with a high level of quality and precision.

lineage The main characteristics of the refinement network are as follows: • it contains all the IGM95 vertices falling in Puglia (121 vertices, 63 of the 700 series, 6 of the 800 series, 52 of the 900 series); • the newly established top management has been positioned with such a density that the average distance between the bases is 7 km and that the maximum distance between them is never more than 9 km (except in the cases reported previously): there is therefore the presence of a point every 50 sq km; • consists of connected polygons each having a maximum of 6 sides, with a maximum perimeter of 50 km; where it was possible, a further refinement vertex was inserted inside the hexagonal meshes which had a high surface; • a minimum number of 3 independent bases converge on each IGM95. The photographic points of the support mesh coincide with the detail points of the primary mesh of the fiducial points, except in cases where the latter have not allowed compliance with the specifications, i.e. being uniquely definable on stereoscopic pairs. They were determined by two connection bases with as many framing and refinement vertices, and finally the calculation of the coordinates in the ETRF89-WGS84 reference system was performed. The total of 2641 points is divided as follows: • 1979 points of detail coinciding with fiducial points of the cadastre (of which 580 points with reliability between 1 and 12) • 662 photographic support points. The points were measured globally as follows: • 87 points with traditional instrumentation; • 1295 points with GPS instruments in RTK mode; • 1259 points with GPS instrumentation in static-fast mode.
