Pre-emptive territories, VEN and IVON, June 21, 2016

Areas with a pre-emptive right, Flemish Ecological Network and Integral Connecting and Supporting Network: Overview of the areas in which a pre-emptive right has been established in implementation of art. 37, §1, 1° and 3° of the Decree of 21 October 1997 on nature conservation and the natural environment (B.S. 10/01/1998). The Flemish Ecological Network (VEN) comprises the Large Units of Nature (GEN) and the Large Units of Nature in Development (GENO). With the exception of real estate excluded by the Flemish Government, a Flemish pre-emption right has been established in the areas of the VEN. The Integral Connection and Support Network (IVON) comprises the Nature Interweaving Areas (NVWG) and the Nature Connection Areas (NVBG). Within the green and forest areas and the forest expansion areas and the zoning areas comparable to all these areas, depending on the construction plans or the spatial implementation plans in force in spatial planning, which are located within the IVON, the Flemish Government can demarcate a perimeter within which a Flemish pre-emptive law has been established.
