Open-space photovoltaics: potential data solar cadastre NRW

The State Agency for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection NRW (LANUV NRW) operates the NRW solar cadastre in the Energy Atlas NRW specialist information system. Since December 2020, the open space potential for photovoltaics has been published there for all of North Rhine-Westphalia on the areas remunerated according to the Renewable Energy Sources Act. The NRW solar cadastre was created on the basis of state-wide, high-resolution laser scan data from the state of NRW and radiation data from the German Weather Service. Further information on the project is compiled in the solar register at https://www.solarkataster.nrw.de. This dataset contains all areas in NRW suitable for the construction of open-space photovoltaic systems that are remunerated according to the Renewable Energy Sources Act 2021 (EEG). Attributes such as the appropriate area size, the usable module area, the installable capacity and the potential electricity yield for each potential area are included. The attributes are explained in the PDF attached to the data set. The area backdrop will be updated in 2023 with regard to the new requirements of the EEG 2023.
