EasyGSH-DB: Bathymetrie 2006

Definition: "Bathymetry" refers to the measurement of the topographical shape of the bottom of a body of water. The term is also often - analogous to the word "topography" - used synonymously for the shape of the water bed. Bodies of water in this context are seas, rivers or closed inland waters. In the context of the EasyGSH project, bathymetric datasets are those that represent the height distribution in the German Bight, including the estuary areas of the Ems, Weser and Elbe estuaries. Such a bathymetric model is always only valid for a certain period of time or point in time due to morphological activities of the water bottom. Data generation: The basis for bathymetric products are rasterized bathymetric models, which are created using the functional soil model, a data-based hindcast simulation model, using spatio-temporal interpolation methods from a database of sea and land surveys of various data types. For each year from 1996 up to and including 2016, a grid bathymetric model with a resolution of 10 m for the German Bight and an additional resolution of 250 m for the Exclusive Economic Zone for the year 1996 is created. Product: A 10 m grid of the German Bight valid on 01.07. for the years 1996 to 2016, with the elevation stored at each grid node. 250 m Grid of the Exclusive Economic Zone (1996).
