Vehicle fleet in circulation: consistency, registrations and cancellations

The dataset shows the time series starting from 2007 relating to the following dimensions: * consistency of the vehicle fleet; * number of cancellations (cessation from circulation) * registrations (first registrations) of new vehicles, by type of vehicle. The data is calculated on the basis of the results on the legal status of the vehicles, by extracting from the Public Automobile Register (P.R.A., Institute in which all the events related to the "legal" life of the vehicle are recorded) the vehicles whose owners are residents in the Municipality of Milan . In accordance with the international statistical definition, the annual "stock" of vehicles is equal to the number of vehicles registered as at 31/12. It therefore appears reasonable and advantageous to calculate the vehicle fleet starting directly from the registration in the Public Automobile Register, while emphasizing that there may be some deviation between the so-called theoretical circulating vehicle (registered in the P.R.A.) and that actually circulating on the road.
