Public Institutions: number of institutions and personnel by legal form and Ateco code

The dataset contains information on public institutions surveyed with the 2011 Census of Industry and Services. Public institutions are legal-economic units whose main function is to produce non-market goods and services and/or to redistribute income and wealth and whose main resources consist of compulsory withdrawals made from households, businesses and non-profit institutions or non-repayable transfers received from other public administration institutions. The variables surveyed concern the number of institutions and personnel (employees, external workers, temporary workers and volunteers) by legal form and Ateco code 2007. In particular, external workers are understood to be collaborators and other atypical workers.
