Drinking water production areas in Schleswig-Holstein

Presentation of the groundwater catchment areas of the waterworks of the public drinking water supply with a withdrawal volume of 100,000 cubic meters or more per year, for which no drinking water protection area has been specified or planned. In some cases, withdrawals from different groundwater levels lead to overlapping of hydraulically separated catchment areas. The term "drinking water production area" used in Schleswig-Holstein is not legally standardized. There are therefore no separate legally binding regulations for drinking water abstraction areas. However, the term "drinking water extraction area" has been introduced as a category in regional planning, since in drinking water extraction areas, in addition to securing the public drinking water supply, the aspect of preventive groundwater protection when weighing up other usage claims is of particular importance.
