Digital lithogeochemical map of Bavaria 1:25,000 (dLGK25)

The digital lithogeochemical map of Bavaria 1:25 000 (dLGK25) is a general-scale thematic map. With regard to the delimitation of the units, it is derived directly from the current status of the digital geological map of Bavaria (dGK25), in accordance with the approach of an integrated mapping. The map image shows the main geological units summarized into lithogeochemical units (LGE) that are near the surface below the soil zone (surface map). A lithogeochemical unit is composed of geological units that had similar formation conditions within a defined geological time period and thus a characteristic chemical composition can be expected. A total of 184 LGE are distinguished for Bavaria, in each of which up to three different lithologies (hard rock) or grain size fractions (loose rock) are distinguished. The data set contains statistical parameters (50th and 90th percentile, equivalent for median and background value) of the examined elements (major, minor and trace elements; measured with X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) or mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS) ) in the distinct LGE. A sample number of more than 10 is required for a statistical evaluation. While a spatially evenly distributed large number of samples would be ideal for characterizing the span distribution in the geochemical units, there are often rather small numbers of samples and/or spatially unequal distributions of the sampling points, which could lead to corresponding corrections to the spans in the event of a densification. The percentiles given are always to be seen as an indication of the range of element concentrations within the geochemical units and therefore do not provide any indication of the values ​​actually found at a location. If possible, only representative rock samples from the units were taken into account for the evaluations, so that local peculiarities such as e.g. B. ore veins are not usually included. The accuracy of the representation depends on the geological conditions, it is at best 25 m according to the processing scale and is therefore usually not accurate to the parcel. From the digital lithogeochemical map (dLGK25) it is therefore not possible to derive any detailed information about specific plots or specific indications of deeper-lying rocks and geochemical properties. At the specific location, the rock or its characteristics may deviate from the underlying conditions.
