Digital Geological Map of Bavaria 1:25,000 (dGK25)

The digital geological map of Bavaria 1:25,000 (dGK25) refers to the digital, area-wide, actively maintained database of the geological map of Bavaria 1:25,000. It thus represents the primary database for the digital distribution of the GK25 on the various digital platforms, in particular the publication in the Bavarian Environmental Atlas as a map service of the LfU. The status of the dGK25 may be more up-to-date than the status of the printed map sheet. Like the Geological Map of Bavaria 1:25,000, the dGK25 shows the geological structure of the Bavarian landscape. The loose and solid rock on the surface of the terrain is shown on the map (surface map). Among other things, the map forms a basis for assessing soil formation, subsoil, water supply, the distribution of usable soft and solid rock, the possible extent of environmental damage and the protective function of the subsoil. Depending on the processing status of the map basis used, there is an explanatory volume with geological and landscape history, rock description, stratigraphy and tectonics or recording reports of varying scope for each map sheet. The dGK25 is based on data from different sources, i. W. from already published, printed GK25 sheets, from provisional previously unprinted GK25 with a lower level of detail (vGK25) or data from digital manuscript maps. All map sheets conform to general legends, i. H. they are compared with the geological general legend valid for the whole of Bavaria.
