Digital Surface Model 1 NW

The digital surface model (DOM) is a digital, numeric model of the heights and shapes of the earth's surface and the objects on it, such as vegetation and buildings, reduced to a regular grid. It reflects the situation at the time of recording. Due to different recording times, jumps in height can occur, for example, in vegetation and water areas. Tall, narrow objects such as wind turbines and power poles can only be displayed to a limited extent. The district government of Cologne, Geobasis NRW, provides the DOM1 with a grid width of one meter as part of its legal mandate. The 3D measurement data obtained from the results of airborne laser scanning (ALS) are used as the data basis.
