The data contain the cultivated areas in the state of Brandenburg on which no genetically modified maize may be cultivated. They only serve as an overview and are not legally binding. For the request for legally binding information, information from the applicant may be required on a case-by-case basis. The areas under cultivation for GMOs are recorded in a central register by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) as a descriptive database. This database currently does not allow a visualization of the cultivated areas via a GIS. The federal state of Brandenburg intends to make this database accessible to the public within the framework of the obligations of the Environmental Information Act (UIG). Furthermore, an analyzable basic geographical database is to be created, which prepares e.g. for impact assessments (e.g. environmental impact assessments) on protected areas of the European protected area system Natura 2000.
