Coastal defense works - 1998

The 'Catalogue of defense works' contains information relating to coastal protection present both at sea and in the hinterland of the Emilia-Romagna coast. These works have been erected over time by different bodies, in order to defend the beaches from erosion and the hinterland from flooding in the event of exceptional high tides.

lineage	Since we did not have an archive, even on paper, which would allow us to reconstruct the location and type of the offshore works, it was decided to map the rigid structures recognizable from the aerial photos of Flight IT2000 relating to the year 1998 in a GIS environment. mapped works were classified on the basis of the indications provided by the CNR "Atlas of Italian beaches" (1985).
