Arpa Piemonte - Theoretical evaluation of the electric field from telecommunication systems

Estimate of the electric field produced overall by telecommunications systems authorized to transmit within the region obtained starting from the theoretical evaluation of each individual system, according to the free-space and far-field model. The calculation is carried out on the basis of the maximum antenna power, and the result of the contributions of each individual system is suitably added to obtain the overall electric field level. This level represents the maximum electric field value that can be reached around the installations. The evaluation was carried out at different heights from the ground (from 1.5m to 25.5m, corresponding to the 8th ground floor of the buildings), following the digital terrain model with a 10m pitch. The maximum field values ​​are provided for the City of Turin electricity at each building (taking into account its effective height), calculated with the same criteria already described.

lineage Arpa Piemonte, in the headquarters of the Radiation Thematic Department, for forecasting and protectionist purposes, has an archive of the technical data of all the telecommunications systems authorized to transmit on the regional territory. To obtain the overall evaluation of the plants on the regional territory, this has been divided according to a grid of 20 meters on each side. In each cell obtained, where there are contributions from several plants, these have been added quadratically. For performance reasons, only the values ​​of the individual evaluations above the threshold of 1V/m were considered, therefore where the symbology is not present it means that the calculated values ​​are below this threshold. Given that the reported field levels are the maximum achievable ones, often higher than those actually measured (determined by some complex factors such as the real telephone traffic conditions, or the shielding by the building), a more significant information than the electric field present in the area can be obtained by consulting the experimental measurement data, where present.
